1. What's the deal with UniBRIDGE Project?
UniBRIDGE Project establishes strong people2people connections between Australia and Indonesia. It does this by giving Australian and Indonesian university students the opportunity to regularly communicate and interact in real-time via Web 2.0 technologies. By interacting several times a week, Australians and Indonesian can learn more about each others languages and ways of thinking while also expanding their personal and professional networks overseas. UniBRIDGE Project interaction allows participants to cut through the noise of media headlines and speak to real people living life in another country. UniBRIDGE Project breaks down barriers between people of different nations.

3. How can I get the most out of my language exchanges?
Prepare, prepare, prepare! With your language exchange partner, choose a worksheet to focus on for your session. There are worksheets for Indonesian & English. You can also use lessons from your university course to structure your conversations.
4. I am very busy, what if i don't have much time?
Then UniBRIDGE Project is perfect for you! You can get amazing language benefit from even short conversations. It only takes 2 minutes to open a UniBRIDGE Project discussion room. Even speaking for 10 minutes, three times a week will help your language. Do you have a spare 10 minutes somewhere in your week?
5. Do I need to have a minimum level of Indonesian (or English) in order to participate?
No. You can start using and learning with UniBRIDGE Project with zero previous language experience. To help prepare for your language exchanges check out these language exchange worksheets.
6. How do I organise a language exchange?
The UniBRIDGE Project Rooms are always available. It is important to plan and organise language exchange sessions with your language exchange partners. Communicate with potential language partners via the UniBRIDGE Project closed Facebook group or via email or Whatsapp. You can also confirm your next language exchange at the end of each session. 7. I entered a room that was already occupied by other students, what should I do?
If you enter a room that already has students having a language exchange, please say 'excuse me' and then move to the next room. Remember to send a quick private message to your partner so they know where you are. To date there has never been a time where all the rooms were busy so you will be able to find somewhere to chat. Additional capacity (eg. rooms) will be added when demand requires it, and when we have increased financial support to cover expanded online infrastructure.
8. I was having a language exchange and someone unexpectedly entered my room, what should I do?
You can do a few things. You could welcome them to join your conversation with you partner. Or, if your language exchange is focused or for assessment, you should politely ask them to move to the next room.
9. Do I have to be enrolled in a university to take part?
If you are not a university student you can join UniBRIDGE Project by first becoming a Supporter on Patreon.

11. I was a participant last year, do I need to re-register?
Yes, please register every year to make sure you get the most up-to-date information. Re-registering is easy. Watch this video to find out how.
12. Is UniBRIDGE Project free?
UniBRIDGE Project, like most things, costs money. However thanks to our sponsors, participants from member universities do not pay anything. To see our current sponsors please visit our Partners Page.
13. How can I contribute to the language & inter-cultural learning that UniBRIDGE Project provides?
You can contribute in a number of ways. 1. See our Patreon page and commit to contributing one dollar ($1) per month. 2. Join the team as a volunteer and gain valuable experience in various areas including digital & offline marketing, events, content creation, education material development and project operations.
14. What if my university isn't currently taking part?

15. Are there any UniBRIDGE Project events coming up?
UniBRIDGE Project holds a number of physical events across Australia and Indonesia. To stay up to date with events make sure to follow us on Facebook.
16. My connection is too slow, what can I do?
There can be a number of issues here; your internet connection, your computer or your smart phone. To help improve your language exchange experience close all other programs and apps. This will help your computer focus on your language exchange web-conference. Also, close unnecessary internet browsers.
17. Why don't I have presenter status when I enter the meeting room?
The first two people who enter a UniBRIDGE Project web-conferencing room should automatically have presenter status. Presenter status means that you have all the functions of the software including whiteboard, file upload and record functions. If you don't have presenter status you will only have access to video, voice and chat functions. This means that no matter what you will be able to have a language exchange with your partner.
